Driver-dense in-ear monitors with 7-9 drivers become more commonplace in the premium IEM space. These multi-driver IEMs offer high-resolution sound and incredible detail and power, especially in the bass frequencies, allowing you to enjoy your favorite albums and playlists with renewed clarity and immersion.

Browse our collection of IEMs with 7-9 Drivers from premium audio brands like 64Audio, THIEAUDIO, Noble Audio, and Empire Ears and find the right IEM for your sound preferences.

How many drivers do you need in an IEM?

If you must have multiple drivers in your preferred IEM, you can’t go wrong in-ear monitors with 7-9 drivers per shell. These IEMs typically have a powerful dynamic driver for the bass, multiple BA drivers for the midrange, and one or two Electrostatic drivers for the treble. When tuned well, these IEMs deliver detail and clarity you won’t get with in-ear monitors with lower driver counts.

With that said, there’s nothing wrong with single-driver or low-driver-count IEMs. When tuned well, a single dynamic driver can deliver a powerful, cohesive, and accurate sound that rivals multi-driver IEMs. The best way to find the right IEM is to demo as many in-ear monitors as you can and choose the ones work best with your sound preferences and playlists.

Basshead IEM with 5-7 Drivers

Empire Ears Legend EVO IEM

Price: $3,099.00

The Empire Ears Legend EVO brings an earth-shattering bass experience you've never heard before

If you’re looking for the most visceral bass experience, then look no further than the Empire Ears Legend EVO - an incredible 8-driver tribrid IEM with enough bass power to deliver a brain-shaking listening experience.

Powering the Empire Ears Legend Evo are two Next Generation W9+ Subwoofers for the bass and five Proprietary Balanced Armatures for the midrange and treble. All eight drivers are synced through an advanced 9-Way synX Crossover to ensure a smooth and cohesive sound.

The first thing that strikes you when you first listen to the Legend EVO is the eye-opening bass power. Those dual W9+ drivers are no joke - the Legend EVO reaches very deep into the lowest frequencies and produces rumbles you won’t get with other IEMs. Kick drums sound explosive while bass guitars reverberate effortlessly with wonderful texture and tone. There’s enough bass to satisfy bassheads but there’s also enough speed and control to keep non-bassheads from turning away.

Even more impressive is the Empire EVO’s ability to keep the bass frequencies from bleeding into the mids. The midrange on the Legend EVO is smooth and well-balanced. Vocals sound very natural, where male vocalists get good oomph and tone and female vocalists sound weighty but extended. Voices and instruments sit in the middle of the mix and offer a balanced presentation.

Like the midrange, the treble on the Legend EVO IEM is smooth and detailed. The overall presentation is a bit smoothed out and lacks a bit of shimmer or sparkle, but there’s enough treble extension to give high notes good clarity.

The Empire Ears Legend EVO is an immersive set of IEMs. Its wide soundstage lets you hear sounds with accuracy. The grand soundstage it projects enhances the overall immersion factor you get when listening, making it an excellent IEM for laid-back music enjoyment.

Build quality and comfort is top-notch, as you would expect from Empire Ears. The transparent black shells feature a simple gold Empire Ears insignia and are smooth to the touch. It is worth mentioning that these IEMs are large - you might not enjoy these for long listening sessions if you have smaller ears.

If you want to experience bass power like never before but still want a smooth and detailed listening experience the Empire Ears Legend EVO is the IEM to get.

Price: $1,299.00

A masterclass in detail and cohesion - THIEAUDIO Prestige LTD

The THIEAUDIO Prestige LTD is an excellent IEM for both casual music listening and gaming. Its cohesive tuning and natural sound project a realistic sound that you will enjoy for hours on end.

Prestige LTD is a 9-driver tribrid IEM. You get a 10mm dynamic driver subwoofer for the bass, 2 Sonion BA drivers for the low-mid, 2 Knowles BA drivers for the mid-treble, and 4 Sonion Electrostatic drivers for the treble. All nine drivers are synced up through a 5-way crossover for enhanced sound layering and texture.

The bass on the Prestige LTD is tight and textured. You get enough bass to feel and hear rumbles when a track calls for it, but the bass quantity never overwhelms the rest of the frequencies. This is great for gaming, as the balanced bass presentation keeps things from sounding congested when the action heats up.

The midrange on the Prestige LTD IEM is balanced albeit a bit smoothed out. Vocals sound natural and life-like, while instruments get good tone and weight. Overall, everything in the midrange is presented with good clarity and detail - nothing sounds off or harsh.

With 4 Electrostatic drivers to play with, the Prestige LTD delivers breathtaking treble extension and detail. You get good air and separation thanks to the well-tuned treble, which gives sounds enough room to resonate to their full potential. In games, this translates into a more immersive sound experience, where you can hear sound cues in the game world with stunning clarity.

The soundstage of the Prestige LTD is very good and offers a wide and spacious feel. You can tell where sounds are coming from with ease, making the Prestige LTD a great IEM for FPS shooters and the like.

Fit and comfort are great if you have medium to large ears. If you have smaller ears, you might have to try different ear tips to find the right fit. The Prestige LTD IEM’s shells are larger than average, but they are well-built and relatively lightweight for their size.

String instruments, pianos, and wind instruments sound clear and clean on the Monarch MK2 - nothing sounds sharp or fatiguing.
