The 64Audio U12t and THIEAUDIO Monarch MKII are two very different IEMs when it comes to design and build quality. The U12t features 64Audio's half-moon aluminum shells, while the Monarch MK2 uses high-quality resin material.
64Audio updated the U12t for 2025 with a fresh new aesthetic. A Textured Silver Shell Color, Raised Metal Logos, and Chamfered Faceplate Bezel for a more elegant look and feel. At front you'll find the Apex ports under the chamfered 64Audio logo. Overall build quality is top-notch - the U12t feels solid in the hand and the new textured shells offer a more premium feel.
The Monarch MK2 features a resin shell with a teardrop-like shape. At the front, the Monarch MK2 sports a unique orange textured rock design that shifts slightly depending on the lighting. The shells feel smooth all around - free from any burrs or imperfections. Size-wise, the Monarch MK2 is larger than the U12t and its nozzles are wider as well.

Our Thoughts
The 64Audio U12t and THIEAUDIO Monarch MK2 feature excellent sound and build quality. Either of these IEMs is a solid choice if you're looking for a top-of-the-line listening experience.
The 64Audio U12t delivers excellent resolution, detail, tone, and soundstage immersion. It is the IEM to get if you want to experience accurate sound but don't want a boring listening experience. The 2025 version is even better - boasting an updated design and accessories package without the extra cost. You can swap out Apex Modules to fine-tune sound to your liking.
The THIEAUDIO Monarch MKII delivers one of the best midrange experiences at any price. Vocals and instruments sound incredible on the Monarch MK2 - you get excellent clarity, detail, and tone, but you also get a good amount of bass rumble when the song calls for it. The overall sound is well-balanced here, making it great for listening to vocal-centric tracks and jazz.
Another IEM to consider in this price range is the Empire Ears ESR MKII. The ESR MKII is a five-driver hybrid IEM with neutral, reference-level tuning, excellent detail, and a realistic soundstage. A good choice for critical listening and studio monitoring.
